Ruby O. O’Dell, 98, passed away at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Windsor Estates in Kokomo, Indiana. She was born in Yale, Illinois on July 23, 1913. She was the daughter of Harlan and Clara (Matheny) O’Dell.
At age 9 she was stricken with polio. She worked in LaPorte, Indiana four years during World War II and then returned home to care for her ailing parents.
Ruby was a member of the Bellair Church of Christ and Courtland Ave. Church of Christ and was a faithful member since she was a young girl. She was a lovely Christian lady and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by nephew William Stifle and wife Carolyn, niece Delores Bartley and husband Tom, who were her care givers. Also nieces Norma Rogers, Wanda Louks, Ruth Hoskins, Linda Young, Pauline O’Dell, Phyllis Marks and Angela Johnson and nephew Larry O’Dell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lloyd O’Dell and wife Ivy and Cloyce O’Dell and wife Opal. Also, two sisters Meredith Stifle and husband Arthur and Mary Wiman and husband Max and one nephew, James O’Dell.
Larry Abraham will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Bellair Cemetery, Bellair, Illinois.
